Bridging Generations Through Dialogue

Bridging Generations Through Dialogue

December 2, 2017, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm

Pridelines is excited to present the 2nd annual Bridging Generations Through Dialogue conference on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at FIU - Modesto Maidique Campus in observance of World AIDS Day. Our first conference on September 24, 2016 successfully provided a safe space to over 80 people in order for intergenerational conversations about HIV in South Florida to occur. For our 2nd annual conference we are committed to continuing the conversations and taking action steps to ensure that our community members have access to services, and brainstorming ways for the community to get involved in the fight to end AIDS.

December 1st is World AIDS Day - In the United States and across the world people, communities and organizations gather to stand together against HIV/AIDS. The day commemorates those who have passed from AIDS, and uplifts those still living with the virus. The importance of the annual observance increases as the number of people aged 50 and older who are living with HIV continues to grow and new infection rates increases among youth ages 18-29. Including the fact that Miami-Dade is number one in the country for new HIV infections in the United States shows a need for a discussion and work to change HIV rates.

During the conference, people of different generations, genders, races, and identity will gather to share their stories, help our communities shift, and ensure that all are heard, served and thrive. Bridging Generations Through Dialogue will consist of an opening plenary, workshops, closing plenary and exhibitor space to help participants’ access community resources. In addition this year we are providing health screenings for members in the community who are interested in recieving potentially life saving services.
